In the year 1555 in England, a secluded community of salt farmers clandestinely arranges for a family of Indian Gypsies who are in hiding to be smuggled to Europe. However, tensions escalate when a forbidden romance blossoms between Patience, a young mute English girl, and Rumi, the son of the Indian Gypsy family, risking upheaval within both groups.
