When William Gridley travels from the United States to London, he decides to rent a section of Carly Hardwickes house. As they spend more time together, Gridley finds himself falling for Carly, unaware of the rumors surrounding her husbands death. However, his boss, the American ambassador, is well-informed about the suspicions surrounding Carly and warns Gridley about getting involved with her.Despite the potential risks to his job, Gridley introduces Carly to the ambassador, who becomes infatuated with her and offers his assistance.
